Exploring southern England
Excursions provide an enjoyable change of scenery and pace for our pupils during their summer English language course. Trips to different towns, historical sites, nature parks and the seaside give everyone a chance to experience local history and culture.
Taking trips as part of our summer camp activities is also a great chance to encounter English outside the classroom - reading information, listening to guided tours and talking to people in shops and cafes.
Port Regis, the host school for ECS's residential summer English language school, is surrounded by fascinating places of visit. Some examples nearby include prehistoric Stonehenge, the beautiful Dorset coast and the lively, historic Roman city of Bath.
Excursions are arranged for each age group to include an enjoyable mix of sightseeing, shopping and culture. We prepare for trips in class to give pupils insights and background knowledge that will help them make the most of the places they visit.
We also run two special additional trips: a weekend in London (for ages 13+) and a half-day trip to Stonehenge (for ages 11+). These need to be booked in advance for a small additional cost, so be sure to add them to your booking before you arrive!

Excursions programme 2024

We always ask for feedback from pupils and take their views into account so we can find ways to change and improve our trips every year. Note: excursions may be swapped or changed depending on the weather.

Taking care of pupils during our summer camp activities
ECS is a caring school. We prioritise our student's wellbeing when we plan all our activities. That means choosing trips and excursions that are not only fun and interesting but safe and well prepared too.
All our summer camp activities and trips are fully risk-assessed to make sure they are suitable and that we are prepared for every eventuality. Students are always supervised with varying amounts of freedom depending on their age and where we are.
We also consider our impact on our world carefully. We always choose low emission and environmentally friendly options where possible. We use the train to travel to London, for example, and travel together in a minibus or coach for other trips.
