Port Regis School

ECS' residential English summer camp is held at Port Regis. The school is set in large, private grounds near the market town of Shaftesbury in the South of England, about two hours west of London.

First class facilities include a new academic building, three computer suites, tennis and squash courts, a gymnasium, an all-weather sports pitch, two performance halls, a large sports hall and a 25-metre indoor heated swimming pool. The school has extensive sports fields and its own practice golf course.

Pupils live in comfortable boarding accommodation suitable to their age group, with experienced house parents to provide supervision and support.

Children aged 8 - 12 live in the main school building, The Mansion. This is a 'Harry Potter' type building, recently refurbished and full of character. Boys live in one area of the building, girls in another, in bedrooms with up to six others of a similar age. This sociable arrangement helps them to make friends and speak more English. There are comfortable common rooms for relaxation in the evenings and even a grand hall with a working fireplace for stories and hot drinks around the fire on chilly evenings.

Teenagers aged 13 - 17 live in separate modern boarding houses in the school grounds, one for boys and one for girls. All pupils have their own room with hand basin, desk and wardrobe. Some rooms have removable partitions, allowing pupils to create a double room if they wish to share with a friend or relative of the same age and gender.

Teenagers have a large relaxation area where boys and girls can socialise together under supervision. There is a film room and a separate games room with table tennis and a pool table. Girls also have the use of a large common room in their own boarding house complete with TV, piano and 'disco' feature lights.

For younger children there are also playgrounds with swings, slides, climbing frames and a tree house.

The wider campus contains woodland, ponds and a small stream, providing space and freedom for pupils to enjoy the summer in a safe and beautiful setting.
