For an opportunity to experience this great city by day and by night we have arranged accommodation at the excellent Hilton Bankside Hotel, close to London’s South Bank and a short distance from some of the most visited landmarks such as Tate Modern, Shakespeare’s Globe and The Shard. The hotel even has an indoor swimming pool for relaxing after a hard day in London!
Travel from Port Regis will be by train to Waterloo, a short distance from the hotel. During their 2-day stay pupils will take a hop-on hop-off bus tour, with live English commentary, getting off at various points to explore the sights of London together. The precise itinerary will be decided in consultation with pupils and will include sightseeing, shopping, a cultural visit to a museum or gallery and a trip on the River Thames from Tower Bridge to Westminster.
The price of £425 includes bed and breakfast accommodation in the hotel, sightseeing bus and river tour, packed lunches, evening meal on the Saturday night and transport between London and the school. Supervision is by our own teachers with a staff:pupil ratio of at least 1:6.
Our London Explorer sightseeing trips are open to all pupils attending ECS aged 13 – 17 on the weekends of 14/15 July and 28/29 July. Places are limited and can be booked through your online account or when you make your main booking for the course.
The world-famous prehistoric monument of Stonehenge, a UNESCO World Heritage site, is about 45 minutes from the school. It has a brand new mutlimillion pound visitor experience centre. In order to avoid weekend crowds we arrange mid-week visits for our pupils aged 11+ who wish to go. There is a charge of £27.50 to cover the cost of admission and transport.
