New Year Update!

Season's greetings from English Country Schools!

First of all, thank you to everyone who responded to our questionnaire about a proposed new course in Cheltenham. You responded superbly: over 100 of you took the time to reply and this gave us exactly the information we needed to make a decision.

So we are very pleased to announce that in addition to our normal course for teenagers at Port Regis we will next summer also be running a small course in Cheltenham for up to 16 boys and girls aged 14 - 17. This will be for pupils who wish to advance their English while experiencing English life and culture in one of England's most beautiful Regency towns. In order to ensure a good nationality mix we will accept just two boys and girls on this course of the same nationality. So if your son or daughter is keen to attend we strongly advise early booking. You can find more information here.

For teenagers who cannot decide between Port Regis or Cheltenham, why not try our Best of Both offer? Two weeks in the countryside followed by two weeks in Cheltenham. We will even include free transfers and a weekend in London for pupils choosing this option!

At Port Regis, we are pleased to confirm that our 7 - 10 year olds will have the opportunity to join Port Regis' own afternoon activities with English children. This will be offered for one week of each child's stay at a cost of £50. It will provide more variety for our 7 - 10 year olds plus the opportunity to mix and speak English with British children.

We are also hoping that some English children will join our new 6-night eco camps for 11 - 14 year olds. For children who love nature and the outdoors this is a great chance to camp out and 'learn English naturally' during their stay. The cost for pupils already attending the summer school is modest. Please see here for further information.

We have decided that two major innovations in 2016 - Cheltenham and our Eco camps - are sufficient for one year and have decided to postpone our yachting trip for teenagers until 2017.

We will however be repeating the post-course Adventure Camp that we ran so successfully in 2015. Parents report being delighted by the personal and linguistic progress made by children during the camp. It was great fun too and I will be there again in 2016. The camp is for 11 - 14 year olds but we will also have a few discounted places for 16 and 17 year olds to attend and assist with the younger children. More information here.

Sarah has just finished putting the final touches to our 2016 weekend trip to London. This is available to pupils attending our course for teenagers for 4 weeks. Accommodation will be in a smart hotel in Canary Wharf. Pupils will be able to enjoy an amphibious ('Yellow Duck') tour of London as well as visiting the Saatchi Gallery, rated one of the world's top museums. No doubt there will be time for some shopping too!

As you will see from the above ECS is not standing still! In today's world Sarah and I believe that the opportunity for young people from different nations to come together to learn about each other is more important then ever; and that education is an investment that will be repaid many times and many ways in the future.

We look forward to having your child with us in 2016 and wish you and your family a peaceful and happy holiday season.

With very best wishes
Christopher and Sarah Etchells
